After removing my 3rd party antivirus, I started using Edge as my main browser because Windows Defender takes care of its security; or at least some of it.
Bing is the default search engine when using the Edge browser. I didn’t even notice that I’m not using Google until I realized that there’s a lot less bloat in my search results. I don’t have a screen full of ads, followed by sliders, carousels, and whatnot.
So, I kept using Bing as my main search engine.
But one thing is kind of annoying for me. By default, Bing opens the links from search results in a new tab. I don’t like that, even if I open them myself like that most of the time. 😃
If that annoys you, too, then you’ll be glad to know that you can easily stop that default behavior.
Stop Bing from Opening Links from Search Results in a New Tab
Here’s what you need to do. Quick and easy!
Step 1
Go to Bing.com or any search results page.
There, click on the hamburger menu, in the top-right corner, next to the avatar. After that, click on the Settings drop-down menu and select More.
Step 2
In the Search section, under Results, uncheck the box for Open links from search results in a new tab or window.
This will stop Bing from opening links from search results in a new tab. You can do the same for the news results.
Step 3
Don’t forget to click the Save button on the banner that will show up at the bottom. It’s kind of easy to miss.
That’s a Wrap
