How to Send Invoices to Clients as a Freelancer Without a Company

by Radu

Let’s say you want to start from scratch as a freelancer. You have no previous clients or connections, thus no way of knowing if you’ll make money. There are many successful freelancers, but for every successful freelancer, there are probably 10 that don’t make it.

So, it’s understandable if you want to test the waters first, without spending money and going through the bureaucracy of creating a company right from the start.

But most customers will want invoices. So, how will you send an invoice to them if you don’t have a company? That’s a question I asked myself, to which I found a good answer.

How to Send Invoices to Clients Without Having a Company

After doing some research, I found Ruul.io to be a good and straightforward solution.

When you send an invoice to your clients using Ruul, their company info (name, address, etc.) will appear in the “Bill From” section.

It’s like working on a freelancing platform like Fiverr or UpWork, where clients receive the invoices from those platforms, not from you. Except Ruul is not a freelance marketplace, only an invoicing solution.

Ruul is not subscription-based. Instead, they only take a small commission with each invoice, depending on the currency/country. They have a pricing calculator to see how much commission they’ll take.

What’s cool about Ruul is that you can make the clients pay the commission so you can get the full amount 😍

Here are some things I like about Ruul:

  • The Dashboard is super fast and not clustered;
  • Very intuitive and easy to use;
  • The support answers quite fast, within 24 hours. I sent them 2 emails and they answered quickly;
  • You can make the clients pay the commission so you can get the full amount, making Ruul free to use for you;
  • Clients can pay via credit card or bank transfer, without needing a Ruul account;
  • You can collect the money on your Pyoneer, bank or Binance account. Yes, you can collect your money as crypto 😁

That’s a Wrap

I hope you found this information useful. There are other platforms you can use to send invoices to your clients as a freelancer without a company, but I liked this one, hence recommending it to you.
